MADISON, Wis. – Dr. Idella Yamben has recently accepted the position of Director of Economic Engagement at the University of Wisconsin System. Longtime CTC outreach program coordinator Margaret Ramey has been named interim director for the Center for Technology Commercialization until the position is filled. Ramey has been an instrumental part of CTC since 2016 and brings 7 years of knowledge and experience working in the innovation and SBIR ecosystem.
“We needed an outreach strategist who also enjoyed managing data and policies,” said Yamben. “It’s these qualities that make Margaret ideal to lead CTC through this next phase. She doesn’t lose site of the people we serve, how we can improve, and remains data-driven to demonstrate how our work has impact.”
As the previous director, Yamben’s goal was to expand CTC’s partner network by emphasizing Department of Defense opportunities. Sharing the same vision, Ramey plans to continue to build on educational tools, programs and processes that ensure access to funding and information for Wisconsin innovators of all backgrounds.
Ramey has been the undisputed glue amongst CTC’s staff with diverse backgrounds. Her ability to bridge communication divides has allowed CTC to consistently move swiftly on opportunities, said Yamben.
Ramey is proud of the progress that CTC has seen in building local partnerships and a national presence within the SBIR community. Ramey will continue to position CTC as an SBIR leader in the state. Clear communication, organization and informational resources will make pursuing the $4.5B federal SBIR seed fund even more accessible to Wisconsin small businesses.
