This spring the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) released their FY23 pre-application and application deadlines for open funding opportunities. This program is housed under the Department of the Army and funds medical research with outcomes that not only benefit service members, beneficiaries, and veterans, but the general public as well. Their focus is to invest in groundbreaking research to address targeted critical gaps, and to support both the next generation of medical researchers as well as established scientists. Through this program, the full pipeline of research development is funded, including basic, translational and clinical research.
CDMRP uses a two-tier formal review with no standing peer review panels and no “pay line”. Consumer advocates are also involved throughout the program cycle. This opportunity is a conglomerate of multiple separate and more specific programs, each with their own different release dates and deadlines.
Investigators and researchers from a range of academic backgrounds are eligible to apply and eligibility is specific to each opportunity and type of grant.
