Often I find that our clients don’t have all of the skills and tools necessary to be competitive with an SBIR. The team may be great in one aspect of the research but may be lacking in some other aspects. Its perfectly acceptable and common for a company to bring on collaborators and consultants to help flesh out the company’s capabilities. I would guess that 90-95% of our clients bring on outside resources for this help. For an SBIR you can pay outside collaboration up to 33% of the overall budget.
