“Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.” As I stated in my recent video, there are many policies that might impact your ability to both submit, and worse, to receive SBIR funding. Below are a few quick links to help you learn what matters as some of the research institutions in Wisconsin.
- Conflict of Interest. Be sure to ask about a “management plan” template.
- University of Wisconsin Madison
- Effective April 30, 2021: UW Madison’s Conflict of Commitment Policy
- University of Wisconsin Milwaukee
- Medical College of Wisconsin
- Office of Technology Development can guide you through processes.
- University of Wisconsin Madison
- Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUC): If your animal research occurs at any of the following research institutions, it is best to check that your small business experimental protocols are approved- even if you have a standing relationship as an academic faculty at that institution.
- Institutional Review Board (IRB) for Human Subjects Research. The IRB process can be complicated depending on the scope of work and location of partnerships. If IRB is in your future, learn about recent federal policy changes. This might be a good starter article on IRB jargon. Also, leverage institutional knowledge at your current institution.
As always, you don’t have to navigate this alone. Reaching to the contacts through the above links and working with CTC can help you be mindful of policies that impact your submission goals.
