Congratulations to SafeLi — a CTC client, and SBIR Advance awardee, for receiving a 2020 Wisconsin Innovation Award
SafeLi, based in Shorewood, discovered Graphene Monoxide, a nano-material that may enable enhanced safety for the use of lithium-ion batteries.
In 2016, SafeLi founders, Carol Hirschmugle and Marija Gajdardziska, sought CTC mentorship to explore the SBIR program for their newly patented nano-material. Since then, the team has secured a SBIR Phase 1 grant from the Department of Energy ($154,000), a Department of Energy Phase II ($1,049,000) and a Phase I SBIR from National Science Foundation. In 2018, SafeLi received a Phase I SBIR Advance Matching grant, followed by a Phase II SBIR Advance grant in 2020.

We are pleased and not at all surprised in their continued successes and the Wisconsin Innovation Award.
